Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC)

Designed by Cesar Pelli and completed in 1996, the 451.9meter twin tower is one of the world’s tallest building. Architecturally, it’s unique star-shaped floor plate is derived from Islamic-inspired geometry, whileits interior resembles traditional motifs from Malaysian handicraft and wearing. This world class twin-tower is a combination of the Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC Park, Petronas Philharmonic Hall and the Suria KLCC Shopping mall.



Mid Valley Megamall

The biggest retail, food and entertainment spot in Asia. The Megamall chooses three anchor tenants, Carrefour, Jusco and Metrojaya. There’re also a gigantic 18-screen Cineplex-golden screen Cinemas, IT World Computer Centre, the largest in Malaysia MPH Bookstores, Sweat Club and a 38-lane bowling arcade. Delicious local and international cuisines served at over 60 F&B outlets. Also accommodates big conventions and exhibitions comfortably.



Masjid Jamek

Today's visitors to the still muddy confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers will find the magnificent Masjid Jamek (Friday Mosque). Built in 1909 and nestled in a picturesque groove of coconut palms, the design is adapted from a Moghul mosque in Northern India, although created by an English architect. Accessible from Jalan Tun Perak, the mosque features a walled courtyard and a three-domed prayer hall flanked by two minarets rising above the height of the palms.


National Monument

Tugu Negara (in the Malay language) was constructed in 1966 in honor of the nation's fallen heroes. The 15.54 meter high bronze statuary depicts seven men from the Malayan Security Forces, symbolizing the seven qualities of leadership. A moat, filled with fountains and ornamental water-lilies, surround the entire structure.


Sultan Abdul Samad Building

Completed in 1897, the building served as a government administrative building and is designed in a distinctive Moorish style. It now houses the Supreme and High Court. This is the most photographed building in the city, with a 40 meter clock tower (affectionately dubbed 'Big Ben'), topped with a golden dome and flanked on both sides by two dome-topped towers. During state occasions, colored lights twinkle in the arches, making it look like a scene from an Arabian night tale. Directly opposite is Merdeka Square, the scene of the annual independence celebration. At the southern end of the square is the world's tallest flagpole standing at 100 meters and majestically flying the national flag. On weekends, with the roads closed off, this is the center of activities and cultural shows that posses great entertainment for both locals and tourists alike.


Kuala Lumpur Tower

Apart from the majestic Twin Towers, the awesome sight of the 421 meters Menara Kuala Lumpur (KL Tower) is one of the first and perhaps most enduring images a visitor to KL will encounter. KL Tower is not just the world's fourth tallest telecommunication tower, but also an exciting tourist destination with much to offer visitors in the way of cultural activities, shopping bargains, and even the ambience of a forest reserve. It has not one but two 360 degrees view. By day, you will see lakes, picturesque sections of the city, and the modern LRT system snaking across the city. By night, the city undergoes a transformation and is miraculously turned into a sea of kaleidoscopic lights. On clear days, one can see as far as the straits of Malacca.


National Museum

Featuring classical Malay architecture, the museum houses collections on history, local culture and customs, natural history, as well as outdoor displays of artifacts from the past. Admission is RM2 (Adults & children over 12); Free (Children below 12 and Students in school uniform).



Dayabumi

The Dayabumi Complex is an interesting combination of Arabic and modern high-rise architecture. It was labeled the most expensive building ever constructed in Malaysia when it was completed in 1985. The combination of government offices and a shopping center also features the new Central Post Office. For an elevated view of the city, take a ride up to the building's 30th floor.



National Planetarium

One of the newer attractions in the city, the National Planetarium is located at the Lake Gardens near the Parliament House. It was officially opened by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in 1994. Its role is to generate interest and promote awareness of space science. Attractions at the Planetarium include the Space Theatre that screens two movies daily, the Space Science Show, and the Sky Movie.


Sri Maha Mariamman Temple

This is the oldest Hindu temple in the city. Located at Jalan Bandar, it was 'wildly' decorated and was built in 1873. Note the "Raja Gopuram" or elaborate tower decorated by ornate sculptures of scenes from Hindu mythology. Step inside to see Hindu worshipers offering prayers to the four-armed goddess.


Istana Negara

This is the official residence of DYMM the Yang Dipertuan Agong (Malaysia's King). It is not open to the public but visitor's can witness the changing of the royal guards daily. The Rulers Conference, various royal and national ceremonies, investitures and official banquets are held here.


Sunway Pyramid & Sunway Lagoon Theme Park

An Egyptian themed shopping centre with an indoor ice skating rink, a Cineplex and a variety of boutiques, shops and restaurants. The spectacular Sunway Lagoon theme park is adjacent to it. The entrance to the pyramid-shaped complex is guarded by a massive, 25 metre high statue of a Sphinx, while its interiors carry the Egyptian-theme throughout.


The Mines Shopping Fair

Part of the massive Mines Resort City, this mall has a manmade canal running through it, linked to a spectacular lake formed on a former open-cast mining pit - the largest in the world! The Mines is a comprehensive shopping centre, ideal for all in the family. It has plenty of interesting shops, from antique and curio outlets to eateries and a cineplex. There's also an ice-skating rink on the top floor. Boat rides are also available.


MIECC : Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre

MIECC is the largest and strongest column free exhibition centre in Malaysia with 38,000 sq meters of net-lettable space. It is designed with a floor loading capacity of 3 tonnes per sq meters enabling it to house and exhibit various forms of heavy machinery. MIECC is set to become a one-stop spot for exhibition, conference, business and entertainment.



Cyberjaya

Located 40km south of Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya is one of Malaysia's most ambitiously conceived communities. Functioning as the nerve center for Malaysia's high-tech development, it provides an environment unique to most other planned communities with as much emphasies on the environment impact and aesthetic beauty as it places on its advanced technology. KL Railway Station

Built in 1910, the Islamic influences in the design of graceful arches and minarets make this one of the most distintive railway stations in the world. The building underwent extensive renovations and refurbishment in 1986. This was the nerve centre of the Malaysian railways that stretches from the north to the south of the country, and eastward to Kelantan before its recent relocation to KL Sentral.


Thean Hou Temple

Situated on a hilltop of Jalan Syed Putra, the temple is one of the largest and most ornate Buddhist temples in the region. The temple's most impressive is the architectural techniques. This picturesque temple is an active centre of Buddhist culture and learning, where devotees gather to celebrate major religious festivals.


National Sports Complex

Designed to host a multitude of events, the National Stadium is the central and most prominent sports building at the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil. The elliptical outdoor stadium has a total area of 76,000 sq metres and its classical bowl shape is enhanced by the dramatic overlapping of the spectator tiers. Built to world class standards, its modern track and the facilities are ideal for athletic meets and is most suitable as an international football venue.


Petaling Street

Known as "Chee Cheong Kai" among the locals, this street is the heart of Chinatown. Famous for ikan bakar, roasted duck and porridge, the street bursts into life every evening when countless stalls do roaring trade in CDs, VCDs, clothes, sunglasses, watches, shoes and fruits. During the day, Petaling Street is more sober as apothecaries dispense dried sea horses, snakes bladder adn fungus as cures while retailers of all kinds offering dried salted fish, Chinese tea leaves, paper Mercedes Benz for the dead images of Taoist deities, textiles and coffins.
